[SOLVED] VirtualBox - install Windows VM

I am in need of a Windows 10 guest on my Arch installation (the host). I see the instructions for installing: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vi … e_packages

I'm a bit confused of the core packages. The choices are

virtualbox-host-modules-arch

(for linux kernels) or

virtualbox-host-dkms

(for other kernels). Are they saying "linux" vs "other kernel" in the sense of the guest OS? So in other words if I'm looking to install a guest Windows VM, would I choose the

virtualbox-host-dkms

core module?

Thank you in advance!

The instructions refer to the host kernel.

If you're using the default Arch kernel (the linux package), then install virtualbox-host-modules-arch. You only need to use the DKMS package if you're running a non-standard kernel.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

The most confusing part for me was that the package selected by default by pacman (if you don't override the selection) is the dkms one.  Anyway, thanks for clearing it up.
