Currently on both LTS kernal and 4.8 with xf86-video-intel i915 driver i'm experiencing a high temperatures on a Thinkpad x250 with a i7-5600U CPU @ 2.60GHz, Intel HD 5500
This is after GDM login screen, when using cinnamon and Xorg for Gnome
After enabling updating to a lts kernal 4.4.40-1-lts, it's as if the computer is still running in "software rendering" mode
very little load, no browser opened
