Double tap not working anymore

Since the latest X update some applications act weird when double tapping for double click to select a word in a text field. In those applications I need to triple tap to double click, it seems like double tap does nothing. For now the affected applications only are Sublime Text 3 and Thunderbird. All other apps work how they are supposed to: Double tap to double click selects a word in a text field. So this means that my touchpad is configured correctly right? What could be the problem, that I have to triple tap in those apps?
I am on KDE Plasma btw,..

Re: Double tap not working anymore

What do you mean to say with that link? As I said, in most applications the touchpad works fine, so it can't be the general configuration.

Just for completeness here the output of xinput list-props 14

I do not really understand though what you wanted to say with the link. A small hint would have been nice. Of course I was on the arch wiki site before I even posted here.

Re: Double tap not working anymore

You didn't mention what driver you use, whether you had configured it at all or relied on the DE's tool. You didn't tell us what video card and driver you use, or provide an Xorg log. You didn't even tell us what versions of Thunderbird and Sublime you are using.

So how could I possible know, or even assume, you had read the wiki?

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Ok, I didn't e.g. know that the video card is relevant for this...
Anyways:
I configured it with the DE's tool. I think I use synaptics as driver. The discrete video card is a Nvidia GTX 960m and the processor is from Intel. xorg log:

Use libinput, not synaptics.

Re: Double tap not working anymore

But how?
The wiki only says "If you wish to use libinput with Xorg, install the xf86-input-libinput package". But I have already installed this package. What do I have to do to replace synaptics?

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Do you have the Synaptics driver installed?  If so, remove it.

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Ok, it finally uses libinput, but it sucks even more. I cannot even get taptoclick to work. It ignores the "Tapping" "on" in the config file and when I try "xinput set-prop 14 273 1", where 14 is my touchpad device and 273 is the tap to click option, it reports:

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 131 (XInputExtension)
Minor opcode of failed request: 57 ()
Serial number of failed request: 19
Current serial number in output stream: 20

Why is libinput recommended, when it doesn't even work with basic features? Any idea how I can fix this?

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Ok never mind the error, I got it fixed by unplugging my mouse which disabled the touchpad *facepalm*
However it still ignores the default config file where I told it to use tap to click. Here is the xorg log, it looks to me like the device is handled correctly first, but reloaded a second time?

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Ok, finally libinput works. The problem was that KDE settings overwrote my settings which disabled the tap to click, so I just had to enable it in the GUI settings.
However the originial problem is still there. I have to triple tap in Sublime Text 3 and Thunderbird to effectively double tap. Any ideas?

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Just as a sanity check, do you have two configs?  Where did you save this config?  what other files are there and content?

Edit: Ah, nvm, just read your latest post.

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Same problem here, gtk2 programs need three taps to register a double click. All other programs are fine with two taps.
Both the synaptics driver and libinput are affected.

EDIT: thought for a second that it was fixed in libinput-1.6.2-1, but apparently thunderbird uses gtk3 now...

Re: Double tap not working anymore

Installing GTK+ solves this problem.
In your case, install the gtk2 package.
That should fix it instantly.
