How to optimize the graphic settings ?

Howdy .
May I ask some advice about how to properly use the graphic settings , on games ?
I was wondering to ask you what of those changes can be apply and specially what are the heaviests .
Like  antialising vs antistropic , or like where are the bigs differences within the same settings ( FXAA vs SSAA ) , to gain and improve a quality and performance balance .

Having the monitor compatibility , do you use DSR and higher resolution , to use  lesser the cpu ? Can this be an optimization ?

Edith : on Windows many discussions brings notices about ( nvidia ) old drivers  perform better for card of years ago : is this , on Linux , different ?
