[SOLVED] Missing intel wifi firmware that doesn't exist

Hi,

My wireless works perfectly but I get this error in dmesg anyway:

[ 7.212088] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8000C-24.ucode failed with error -2
[ 7.212104] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8000C-23.ucode failed with error -2

I've searched https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kerne … .git/tree/ for these *.ucode files but the latest seems to be -22.
Is this important?

Thanks

No it isn't. Kernel code usually evolves faster than hardware code and some firmwares are preemptively added to the lookup list so that they are going to be used when/if they become available (or they might be added already for internal testing before public release). You shouldn't worry about it
