Audio glitches with onboard soundcard (Intel HDA Realtek 887-VD)

Every few minutes I can hear a short skip in audio playing, almost as though one frame is being dropped. It's happens regardless of the source (MPV/music player/Firefox). In the brief moment during a skip, the Sound Preferences > Output tab's list of devices gets greyed out, and the volume control indicator briefly flashes as though it is muted, before all flicking back to normal.

ALSAmixer also similarly glitches during the skips with the volume bars all disappearing for a fraction of a second. With pavucontrol I noticed that both output options (line out and headphones) flick around and go back to "line out" option.

I've tried disabling HDMI audio using

radeon.audio=0

as suggested here with no results.
Then I put

options snd_hda_intel enable=1,0

in

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

; this disabled the HDMI but the problem still persists.

I've tried booting 3 different distros (Solus/Fedora/Debian) and this issue happens in all three. How can I fix that?

If it is simply the ports switching you could try disabling

load-module module-switch-on-port-available

in /etc/pulse/default.pa that doesn't explain that it happens in alsamixer as well though. Could you post

amixer -c$index #Where $index is your card's index as given by aplay -l
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks

I noticed that with no music playing I hear clicking sounds through my headphones (similar to when you plug/unplug it). Also it doesn't matter if I have pulseaudio installed or not.

Monitoring Pavucontrol I noticed that the Port options (in Output Devices) starts flickering between Line Out and Headphones. This issue happens in every single distro I tested (Arch/Solus/Ubuntu/Fedora/Debian).

Does disabling the Auto-Mute mode in alsamixer help? There seems to be some fault in the jack detection and it might be muted due to that. For the flickering between ports the line I posted should help you out.
