[SOLVED] Gnome Terminal doesn't start despite UTF-8 locales, times out

Hi, I've been having trouble with the gnome terminal. At first it threw an exit status 8, but now after regenerating the UTF-8 locales and restarting, the server proxy simply times out saying:

"Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal: Timeout was reached". I cannot figure out what my problem is. Please help!

The only thing set to en_US.UTF-8 is LC_COLLATE - i'm not sure whether that should be sufficient for GT, but it's an extremely odd configuration (usually reverse, because some CLI tools like mc -did?- render ASCII)

cat /etc/locale.conf

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome Terminal doesn't start despite UTF-8 locales, times out

Don't really have tools like mc. But I did have screenfetch which I read had an issue with GT. So I promptly removed it and then I read here that it was some bug with the gnome-session. So I did what was told in the comments and patched gnome-session using the PKGBUILD, but still nothing. Anyway, the cat output is as follows:

LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8

You're apparently facing bug https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/50069, but *if* you applied that patch, it didn't resolve anything.
You locale.conf is correct, but the locale is *still* effectively set to C (by screenfetch?), thus the problems.

Ok can you tell me what it should be and how can I go about tinkering stuff and change it to the values it's supposed to be. As I said earlier, I uninstalled screenfetch.
