Hi, i have a hybrid laptop with everything working correctly, i run Dota 2 with steam using the commands for the card to run. But, fps are reeeally low...i mean i play with the lowest graphics possible, and its running with 35-40 fps which is decent, but MANY times in one game, it stucks for 3-4 seconds(which in a game like this its a LOT) and a sudden drop of fps occurs 10-15. The card is Nvidia GeForce 940M, is there anything i can do to resolve this? any help appreciated!

Hey, @telis80!
Since you're able to run the game, I assume you issue scope lies in battery saving options for CPU and GPU.
I did 3 things to max out the performance during gaming:
1) I use rEFInd bootloader, and I added "pcie_port_pm=off" as a kernel parameter according to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bu … kernel_4.8 ;
2) I installed the package 'nvidia-settings' (https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … -settings/), and every time before launching Dota 2 I type the command "optirun nvidia-settings -c :8" to access the GUI of GPU control panel, go to PowerMizer and switch it to "Prefer maximum performance" mode ;
3) I have Intel i7-4710MQ CPU and use TLP for power management, and I set TLP to switch CPU governor for intel, i.e. intel_pstate to 'performance' while on AC. That way I squeeze out all the juice from CPU while on AC and playing Dota 2. If you don't use TLP, then you may want to check out the wiki page - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CP … _governors
It'll give you the insight on how to tune your CPU scaling during gaming.
Any way, I'm here in case you need any further help!
Good luck!

I believe that the problem is somewhere else, cause the gpu power changes automatically, thanks for the reply though! I dont think that the power fails at all, if the card changed to integrated many more problems would appear.

I think i have the same problem.
My card is Nvidia GeForce 840M, sometimes the fps drop to 10-15 and back up to 50-60.
Do you use bumblebee? It boost my fps from 30-40 to 50-60.

ofcourse mate, if i didnt use bumblebee it would be a lot worse, i dont know if it is the game that has the problem or my computer.
