Hi! I have set up a multi-seat environment which works really well except for one thing. I cannot find how to assign specific USB ports to a given seat. I have no issue assigning a specific device (keyboard, mouse, etc.) to a seat but what I would like is to preassign the USB ports of the computer between the two seats. The idea is that if one plugs an unknown USB drive to a port, it would automatically be assigned to the correct seat. So far either I have only been able to assign all the ports on a PCI bus or specific devices but not ports. The idea would be to do something like:
TAG=="seat", DEVPATH=="/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-1/*", ENV{ID_SEAT}="seat1"
TAG=="seat", DEVPATH=="/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-2/*", ENV{ID_SEAT}="seat0"
TAG=="seat", DEVPATH=="/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-3/*", ENV{ID_SEAT}="seat1"
TAG=="seat", DEVPATH=="/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-4/*", ENV{ID_SEAT}="seat0"
etc.
Obviously, that does not work, I guess because udev only gives the TAG seat to whole buses or to specific devices. The Internet is rich of resources to assign individual devices not to individual ports. Any idea how to do that? Thanks!

And … the syndrome of “I spend 3 hours and I find the solution right after posting to the forum” has struck again. I forgot an equal sign after DEVPATH. So for the record something as simple as that works:
TAG=="seat", DEVPATH=="/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-1/*", ENV{ID_SEAT}="seat1"

Sounds like you got it working to your satisfaction. If that's the case, please remember to mark the thread as solved.
