Closing the lid does not suspend to ram

Hi;

I have installed archlinux on a HP Stream 11-r004nf netbook. Everything was fine except the wifi driver rtl8723be. I needed to use the one from the lwfinger github rtlwifi_new repo. never mind.

When I close the lid, the laptop does not suspend to ram. This happens in budgie (but in gnome too). I can see in the log of system-logind that the lid has been closed and opened.

When I choose in the menu to suspend, it works without problem.

I have tried to explicitly state HandleLidSwitch=suspend in /etc/system/logind.conf but that didn't change anything.

I don't know where to look now.

Re: Closing the lid does not suspend to ram

Gnome overrides the settings in logind.conf.

You can use Gnomes settings to enable suspend on lid close.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Re: Closing the lid does not suspend to ram

I don't remember havng seen it in the gnome settings center. There is one option for the power button but I don't see anything about the lid.

EDIT: So instead I used HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend in /etc/systemd/logind.conf and it works.

I don't knwo why it thinks that my netbook is docked. It is not. It was once connected to an external monitor but not anymore.

EDIT2. It seems related to the hp-wmi kernel module which is buggy
