[solved] Hard drive sometimes doesn't resume from s2ram

Usually, I have no problems, but occasionally when I resume from suspend-to-ram, my hard drive makes its usual spin up noise, but the access light immediately goes off and programs can no longer read from or write to it. When attempting, they hang. I can look at and work with everything already in memory without problems, as far as I can tell.  I haven't been able to figure out what might be the cause of this; it seems to happen randomly on waking from suspend-to-ram.
I have updated 32-bit Arch running on a Lenovo Thinkpad T60 (2007 version).

I don't currently have a screwdriver to check what SATA HDD I have installed.
What can I try to fix this?

Re: [solved] Hard drive sometimes doesn't resume from s2ram

After updating to kernel 4.9.7, this happens almost every time I resume from suspend to ram. Any information would be helpful.

Re: [solved] Hard drive sometimes doesn't resume from s2ram

I've switched to the latest LTS kernel (4.4.45). I'll see whether it completely resolves the problem. With the 4.8 kernel, this happened only occasionally.

I haven't had this issue since switching to the LTS kernel, now version 4.4.51. I consider this solved.
