SDDM ignoring background in theme.conf.user

.
Today I allowed the extra/breeze 5.9.0-1 (plasma) update (along with a number of others) to be installed. Now the SDDM Breeze Theme ignores the [General] background=picture.png setting, displaying the default (e,g, preview.png) blue. I have tried the Maldives and Elarun themes and they both appear to use the background correcty.

Not sure iof this help, but when I use the "Login Screen (SDDM) Select Login theme" GUI Editor, and choose the PNG file I can see it copied to the "/usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze" directory correctly and the theme.conf.user updated. However, if I close and immediately reopen the same GUI editor, the choosen file is no longer selected. I thought is might be permission related, but I don't see anything wrong there that stands out.

Any ideas?

Re: SDDM ignoring background in theme.conf.user

Bug 370521 - [Regresion] SDDM breeze theme unable to change backgound: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370521

The Breeze SDDM theme is expecting 'type=color' or 'type=image' key in the /usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/theme.conf.user

Workaround:
User can add the missing key to the theme.conf.user.

Examples:
