Plasma 5.9: krunner crashing at startup

Looking to switch back to KDE Plasma after running Cinnamon due to KDE4's end of life. I wanted to wait til KDE Plasma 5 matured before looking to go back to it.

I install the plasma-meta package according to the Wiki. However, when I start the Plasma session (whether I use LightDM or SDDM) I get a black screen with Dr. Konqi popping up saying krunner segfaulted. I've looked all over Google for others experiencing this issue with no luck (mostly 6-month-old posts or older), and there are far too many topics on these forums to spend hours sifting through. Anything I did find refers to older versions of Plasma or Plasma running on Wayland. Here's what I gathered from the crash data:

Application: krunner (krunner), signal: Segmentation fault
Using host libthread_db library "/usr/lib/libthread_db.so.1".

It's been a while since I changed desktop environments. I did have one or two teething issues when I first installed Cinnamon, but no issues at this level. Or maybe there's some conflict or required package I missed. I am running the newest NVidia drivers from the regular repositories, and am running a dual display setup. I've removed all my autostart apps, created another user with all the same priveleges as my main, different stuff short of uninstalling NVidia, and still the same result. No problems with Cinnamon after all this, so I'm still running Cinnamon til I can get this sorted out. Any suggestions? Or is KDE5 that much rubbish on an NVidia system?
