So far I have spent a good part of the day setting up my system. Gnome is up and running and almost everything is working. I have a few questions though:
1. Is it it difficult to get wireless working in Arch ? Especially a Broadcom card ?
2. Is network manager avaible in Arch or can I go ahead and install the Ubuntu/debian package ?
3. Are the msttffonts avaible ?
4. Is there a way to stop a kernel module from loading ? There is no /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.
They are all my questions for now.

1. Don't know, don't have wireless.
2. Don't know, never used a "network manager".
3. Yes, the package is ttf-ms-fonts, just install it with pacman and you're golden.
4. Use the blacklist in /etc/rc.conf, the central config file. Arch uses BSD-style initscripts instead of SystemV...

2. You could try: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=9122
I don't know how well it work.
4. Do as Gullible Jones said. However, if it's a filesystem or disk controller, you'll need to customize your initrd to prevent it to load. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ini … our_Initrd

for >=2.6.17 there's a native, though somewhat experimental module available in the kernel. 2.6.17 should be released any day, so this is probably your best choice.
for <2.6.17 you need to use ndiswrapper.

there's a few packages for both the kde and gnome ones on the AUR.

No, not at all. It's more like extremely easy if you read the wiki, and are not affraid of some trying arround.

I guess the /etc/rc.conf will be the configuration file you are searching for.
