Hello,
I started having this problem after I switched to my new monitor which is connected via DisplayPort 1.2 (old one was HDMI). Now every time the screen goes to sleep, I can't wake it up simply by moving the mouse or pressing any key on keyboard. I found the only way to wake up screen is to switch to another terminal, then back to graphical terminal (CTRL+ALT+F2 and later CTRL+ALT+F1). This thing is really annoying, screen goes off after 5min ~
I am using KDE Plasma 5.9.1 with NVIDIA 375.26-6 (GTX 780), latest kernel (4.9.8-1)
I tried to install PowerDevil and there disable screen sleeping, but screen anyway goes to sleep.
I think this might be XOrg problem, not sure what do to about it.
Any ideas where to search for solution?

xset -dpms
turns dpms off, but it's a bit weird the system would not break dpms on random input.
a) do you lock the screen on these occasions (got to provide credentials)
b) check your xorg log - if you're using the libinput driver, try installing (and selecting) evdev for keyboard and mouse (consult the wiki on how to do this)
