Printing.

I use a hp Deskjet 3550, ad i have hplip installed. The problem is Abiword and emacs are not able to print files, like they say printing, spooling, done. But the printer doesnt even blink. So i have to create pdfs and then print using hp-print. I tried making lpr the printer in abiword, still no response. It is cumbersome to makje a pdf each time. Any escape??

hplip and cups are started? and cups is configured?

Make sure all is installed:

pacman -S cups hplip

then follow iBetus:

1. Run /etc/rc.d/cups stop
2. Run /etc/rc.d/hplip start
3. Run /etc/rc.d/cups start
4. Place hplip before cups in rc.conf
5. Reconfigure CUPS to use the hp:// port instead of usb when printing.
6. Test the printer to ensure proper function.
