Is it a CVS version still? or did the futur package with be in current or extra
Do you think I need to stick on the CVS version or move on to this one?

I know, the progress bar too... But if the buttons aren't GTK1, they sure look like GTK1's default theme.

i dont think theyre themed, maybe just simple gtk2 renders?

It's an official mplayer release, and it will be available in the current repo whenever the devs get around to it.

It's up to you. In general, it's better to use actual releases. However, I will continue to maintain mplayer-svn (formerly mplayer-cvs) in the AUR for anyone who has to have the latest code.

Weird, the GTK2 default is beige not gray... And they should pick up the theme I'm using. Don't really know what's going there.

by the way, dvd menus are not supported yet. it was mentioned as an experimental feature for upcoming versions of mplayer.

Can't wait for that After that feature is included, mplayer will finally be better than xine in every aspect lol
PS: Do you know if this feature is enabled in the latest SVN revisions?

Except it won't have a nice, plain, unskinned interface.

Mplayer has always had an excellent command line interface...
Btw, the dvdnav patch is here: http://dcxx.fw.hu/mplayer/

Thanks for that, sh__. I've incorporated it into the mplayer-svn PKGBUILD, and it's building now. Assuming the build goes OK, I'll be looking for testers, because I don't have a DVD drive. If testing is OK, it will go in the AUR.
<edit>
As this is getting a wee bit OT, I've started a new thread here.

Remember kids, recompiling mplayer for your system is suggested if you want the best performance out of it. It saves me a decent amount of cpu.

is compiling using the PKGBUILD from AUR enough, or do i need to change something in the PKGBUILD to compile it specifically for my system? im using a PIII 800MHZ.

You don't have to change anything - it checks your CPU type automagically.
