Internal microphone static

I'm experiencing quite a lot of static when I use my internal microphone. I followed this tutorial on the wiki to no avail.

Step 1:

$ arecord --list-devices
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC269VC Analog [ALC269VC Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Step 2:

$ arecord -f dat -r 60000 -D hw:0,0 -d 5 test.wav
Recording WAVE 'test.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 60000 Hz, Stereo
Warning: rate is not accurate (requested = 60000Hz, got = 48000Hz)
         please, try the plug plugin

This result made me change ; default-sample-rate = 44100 to 48000 in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf. After this, I restarted pulseaudio. The static however remains.

The sound settings in the settings menu look like this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/411 … etting.png I can clearly see that the settings menu is registering "sound", which no doubt is the noise that I'm hearing. In case it could be helpful, this is what I mean with noise (make sure your sound levels are not to high, it's not pleasant): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/41167589/test

Also interesting to note: I have only recently switched to Arch, before I was using Mint on this laptop which had no problems with the microphone. Which makes me believe that this is not a hardware problem.

Any thoughts what the problem might be? I will happily provide any other information if necessary.

Kind regards,
Brecht

Update:
