Downgrading nvidia conflict

Hello everyone,

The last nvidia drivers are not working for me so I am trying to downgrade them but I keep running into a conflict with bumblebee.

I downloaded nvidia-375.26-6 and nvidia-utils-375.26-4 from archive.archlinux.org. When I try to install them pacman complains that nvidia-utils and bumblebee are in conflict (nvidia-libgl) which is weird because I have both installed at the moment.

Any suggestions?

Re: Downgrading nvidia conflict

You can’t have two packages that provide the same thing (nvidia-libgl in this case). It is provided by both nvidia-utils-375.26-4 and bumblebee-3.2.1-13.

In the wider perspective this is a symptom of your attempt to do a partial upgrade, and partial upgrades are unsupported. You have to downgrade whole system, not just a single package.

If you wish to end up in partial upgrade state (do it on your own responsibility), you have to downgrade all packages that may interfere with each other. In this case bumblebee has to be downgraded too. Probably also few other things.

Sometimes I seem a bit harsh — don’t get offended too easily!
