Apple Keyboard: internal USB connector doesn't work

hi,
i have an Apple Aluminium Keyboard which has 2 internal usb connectors. if i try to insert a pendrive it doesn't work. dmesg say: "insufficient available bus power". strange, why?

Sometimes, when i put a pendrive, the keyboard crashes: It does not work anymore. after leaving pendrive, the keyboard works again.

Re: Apple Keyboard: internal USB connector doesn't work

What is strange about that message? There's not enough power on the bus to drive both, those keyboard USBs are usually  intended for the mouse or similar light appliances. Might also be a problem with the USB port your keyboard is plugged in, it reads like you have that on a 1.0 bus as opposed to a 2.0 bus. Post

Re: Apple Keyboard: internal USB connector doesn't work

Any update on this? I have a Thinkpad X260 with only USB 3.0 ports and the Apple Alu Keyboard doesn't work on any of the ports... mouse does. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Apple Keyboard: internal USB connector doesn't work

Alberto, this is completely off-topic, the problem in this thread was, that the USB hub *in* the apple keyboard does not provide enough power to run a pendrive.

Your problem is that your Apple keyboard doesn't work at all (for so far uncertain reasons), please open a new thread and there provide a dmesg log (run "dmesg -w" to track events) around plugging your keyboard, also the output of "lsusb" and "xinput" when the thing is supposed to be attached.
