AMDGPU IB Test timed out

I shoudl start with im "new" to Arch and Linux, and my skills ar limited so if more information is needed let me know how to get it.

Okay after i installed Arch i get

[drm:amdgpu_vce_ring_test_ib [amdgpu]] *ERROR* amdgpu: IB test timed out.
[drm:amdgpu_ib_ring_tests [amdgpu]] *ERROR* amdgpu: failed testing IB on ring 12 (-110).
[drm:amdgpu_device_init [amdgpu]] *ERROR* ib ring test failed (-110).

I serched and found https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=223528 and https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=223458
So i did Enable the testing repo in pacman.conf and run pacman -Syy and pacman -S linux-firmware without any problem.
But when i ran mkinitcpio -p linux i get

==> Building image from preset: /etc/mkinitcpio.d/linux.preset: 'default'

i know i said successfull but the bit that bugs me is

99.99% of people who run Arch get these warnings; they are only warnings, not errors. Unless you have spent 1000's on high end raid controllers that you know need this firmware then you have nothing to worry about.
Please search the forums before posting, this has been covered multiple times before.

As to your amdgpu errors you'll have to wait for someone else to chime in, I have zero knowledge about this.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Re: AMDGPU IB Test timed out

Hi,
I think that when kernel is booting, linux try to load AMDGPU module.

It may be related to older firmware or newer ones.
It could also be related to amdgpu issue with your GPU.

Could you try these options, in this perticular order -if it fails go to the next one :

1) Edit boot options and add something like this
amdgpu.dpm=0

2) Edit boot options and add something like this
modprobe.blacklist=amdgpu

---
if option 1 works, then it might be your kernel that is too old. (I build  my own using  agd5f/linux and I had simimar issue before), but in any case you don't want to keep using this workaround, (it's harsh on perfs.)

You may want to go for the 2nd, but you won't have RADV available. (If you don't need Vulkan right now, it's still the better choice though)

----

If it still doesn't work reinstall firmware. Using [testing]

and If it still doesn't work tell me, I'm going to show you how you can build a newer kernel yourself, with a bit of tuning

Re: AMDGPU IB Test timed out

FYI : I got that exact message after i blacklisted another module : SP5100_TCO.
I did it first because I had a waruning message in my dmesg : sp5100_tco: I/O address 0x0cd6 already in use.

As I prefer the first message which seems only to be a warning, I undid the blacklisting of that module and the amdgpu message dissapeared.
