Plex Media Server

Hello,

I have a Mini PC which has 32GB MMC memory, When Plex is trying to transcode it does not have enough hard drive space to do it. My idea is to run Plex-Media-Server on an External Hard Drive that has been partitioned to say 8GB or less.

Doing this I will get around the errors that are being caused due to low storage space but in Arch Linux I am not too sure how I would do this? At the minute I am installing using yaourt package manager.
If anyone has any advice on how I could move the binaries and dependencies to another drive or... Even better, Install directly to that drive that would be great!

Thanks smile

Re: Plex Media Server

Installing Plex to a different location won't help with your issue (and is also incredibly convoluted).

By default Plex store the transcodes in /tmp, which is limited to half the amount of RAM you have. To change this behaviour edit the PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_TMPDIR variable in the /etc/conf.d/plexmediaserver configuration file.

PS - Yaourt is not a package manager, it's an AUR helper that shouldn't be used unless you know exactly what it's doing.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
