Setting speed and buttons of MX518

Hi,

I have a MX518. The side buttons work for what I usually use them. (Going back/forward in a brwoser mainly since I don't play games on linux). I basically have two problems:

The important one: The mouse is too slow. I'd like to make it freaking fast since I don't like to move 15cm until I'm at the other end of my screen. So:

Question 1: How can I set the speed of my mouse?

The other question is not that important but if someone knwos an answer, I'd appreciate it.

Question 2: How can I set the speed chainging buttons (around the wheel) to somethign different?

I tried using lomoco but it doesn't work. [Using Cinnamon if thats somehow important].

Getting:
$ lomoco -s
001.004: 056a:00ec Not a Logitech device
001.003: 0483:91d1 Not a Logitech device

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Edit: What I currently did is xinput --set-prop 9 'libinput Accel Speed' 1 but that's still too slow. Guess I'd like to have a 2 in there instead of a 1 but that's not supported.

Edit: I noticed that the entry in /usr/lib/udev/hwdb.d/70-mouse.hwdb might be wrong for my mouse. [I'm really a noob here, so don't count on this]

Origianlly there is written:
# Logitech MX 518
mouse:usb:v046dpc01e:name:Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse:
MOUSE_DPI=400@125 *800@125 1600@125

but doing lsusb, it gives me: 046d:c051 Logitech, Inc. G3 (MX518) Optical Mouse

so I tried adding:

# Logitech MX 518 (G3)
mouse:usb:046dpc051:name:*
MOUSE_DPI=400@125 800@125 *1600@125

but still, it's too slow. I mean, if the above geat read then the default setting should be 1600 which should be freaking fast... but it isn't. It's better than in the beginning but still too slow. [That might be because of the xinput command above]

Any help would really be appreciated.

Re: Setting speed and buttons of MX518

Double the acceleration speed (that's what 1 does) is still to slow for you ?

what acceleration profile have you set ?
libinput-list-devices ran as root should show that.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

Re: Setting speed and buttons of MX518

it shows "Accel profiles:   flat *adaptive"

Whre can I see what profiles are available?

I also did xinput --set-prop 11 'libinput Accel Speed' 1 which made it faster but if possible I'd like it more faster to see the difference. Also why can't I use hwdb? From what I've read it would support the buttons so I can change it easily if I like. (Would be a nice to have)
