Is there a way to use gnome's onscreen keyboard (caribou) in LightDM?

Hello,
I've found several threads on how to use the "onboard" keyboard application in LightDM when logging in. I did get it to work by installing  lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings and selecting onboard as onscreen keyboard.
However, is there a way to use gnome 3's standard onscreen keyboard (caribou) instead?  Entering "caribou" instead or i pointing to "/usr/lib/caribou/caribou" does not work for me.

Thanks in advance.
