i3 polybar module non-responsive after sleep or suspend

I'm running a fresh install of Arch/4.10 with i3 and polybar. When the machine is turned on, the i3 module on my polybar (showing the different workspaces in use) works as expected. However, after a sleep or suspend, the i3 module becomes "frozen" - i.e. it shows the workspace state when the laptop entered sleep/suspend. The other modules on that polybar (CPU, RAM, temp) work correctly after sleep/suspend, and I've had no other problems with the bar. This continues until I restart the machine. My current "fix" is to kill the polybar and restart it manually, but I would obviously prefer if it worked correctly.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've inspected the polybar stdout and stderr but there was no mention of any errors/issues with the i3 module; in fact, I can't find any i3/polybar related errors in any log files.

Cannot reproduce. Are you using polybar-git or polybar? Sounds to me like a config issue. Pastebin your polybar config and I'll have a look.

EDIT: just saw you are new. Also post:

uname -a

polybar config:

uname -a:
Linux archissimo 4.10.9-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Apr 8 12:39:59 CEST 2017 x86_64 GNU/Linux

edit: I'm using polybar, not polybar-git.

Re: i3 polybar module non-responsive after sleep or suspend

Hmm I tested your minimal i3 module, works fine for me with suspend. What I would do: remove the other modules from the bar. Test it only with your i3 module and see if it still does not work. Also check if you have the i3 dependecies like i3 ipc installed. If it still does not work then, you should consult jaagr and ask him kindly if it's a bug. There was eg. this bug report https://github.com/jaagr/polybar/issues/83 but normally it should be fixed already.

Edit: and yeah try polybar-git then. Who knows wink
