Wake up from hibernate hangs if triggered by power-button

I am running gnome 3.22.3-1 on kernel 4.10.2-1-ARCH and the the system wakes up successfully from suspend-to-disk (hibernate) if the hibernation was triggered manually through: `echo disk > /sys/power/state`.
All different hibernation modes, namely reboot, platform and shutdown are working fine.
So hibernation seems to work, at least theoretically, on my system.
But if try to wake up from hibernate triggered by the power button (dconf value of /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/power/power-button-action set to 'hibernate') then the system will hang shortly after logging in.
Suprisingly, it will work as expected for about 5 seconds before freezing.
In contrast, the manually triggered hibernation will not present gdm's login screen, instead it will boot directly into my desktop, with all open application of course.
I've created a gist with today's journalctl logs: https://gist.github.com/klingtnet/4307c … f6567f32ca.
It is quite unconvenient to hibernate by running `echo disk > /sys/power/state` because this needs to be run as root and I would like to hibernate the system from gnome.
If somebody has an idea, please let me know.

Re: Wake up from hibernate hangs if triggered by power-button

UPDATE Wake up from suspend also freezes after the login screen.
