KDE Taskbar Hangs when plugging in USB stick

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm hoping you guys could help me.

When I plug in my USB drive to any ports on my laptop (x220), the whole taskbar just hangs/freezes and everything becomes slow, except for any windows I had already opened like terminator or chrome.

Even if I have my file manager open (dolphin) and eject it, then remove it, the taskbar is still frozen solid.

Any clues on what to do?

Thanks!

edit : It seems if I get system activity open then end 'plasmashell' and start it again, everything works again. Still happens once I plug in the USB stick though.
