Picture appearing on screen when adjusting brightness or volume in i3

Hi everyone,

I run i3 window manager, but would like to have a "picture" (in lack of a better word for it) appear on screen when I am adjusting backlight or volume, as it does in more desktop-ish environments. Would be helpful e.g. when adjust volume, while watching video in fullscreen. Anyone has an idea as to how I would go about doing that? Can't seem to find any help on that, when searching around..

I believe you are talking about notification displaying volume change. If so, you can use notify-send along with whatever script you have bound to your volume/brightness keys.

Also check out volnoti. The original version only handles volume, but there is a forked package, volnoti-brightness-git, that also handles brightness.
