Just a quick note that after upgrading to Linux kernel 4.10.8-1, with Nvidia binary driver causes a software rendering fallback in Cinnamon. I've looked at the logs and there were no errors in there pertinent to Nvidia or WM/DE. I've since downgraded to 4.10-6-1 which seems to work just fine with Nvidia binary blob HW rendering.
Anyone else ran into this issue?
Kernel: 4.10.8-1-ARCH x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.2.8 Distro: Arch Linux
Nvidia driver version: 378.13

Please vote for all the AUR packages you're using. You can mass-vote for all of them by doing: "pacman -Qqm | xargs aurvote -v" (make sure to run "aurvote --configure" first)

Thanks loqs! Hopefully this will be resolved.
I wonder if removing nvidia_drm from MODULES would "fix" this until Kernel team or Nvidia make some updates...
Anyway, glad this is being tracked

You could rebuild the nvidia package locally or download the nvidia 378.13-5 using the Download From Mirror link from https://www.archlinux.org/packages/test … 64/nvidia/ then install that.
Edit:
I should also note the issue I linked to is now closed as it was resolved when both packages were in testing but only the linux package was moved out of testing causing the issue to reoccur.

Thanks loqs! Downloaded -5 Nvidia driver and upgraded everything and now I'm back to 100% everything working. Thanks!

Removing DRM did fix the issue for me though gnome not cinnamon.
