SD Card can't be mounted (MSI Laptop)

Hey,

I'm on an old MSI Laptop trying to mount an SD card directly via the integrated SD card reader and I get this error (directly after inserting the card actually):

Error mounting /dev/mmcblk0p1 at /run/media/fletchers/6563-6630: Command-line `mount -t "exfat" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8,namecase=0,errors=remount-ro" "/dev/mmcblk0p1" "/run/media/fletchers/6563-6630"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: unknown filesystem type 'exfat'

I'm fairly new to linux so I don't quite understand what's being thrown at me here. Hope someone can give me a hand.

Thanks,
boogie

My unsolicited advice, if you want to keep using an advanced distro like arch*, is to learn to read error messages.
It is pretty clear what is the problem in this case if you read the last part of the message you posted

unknown filesystem type 'exfat

*Actually my advice applies to life in general.

Yeah, that much I got. I wouldn't be so quick and just dismiss the rest of the error message - it may be clear if you know the rest is not necessary information for the solution of the problem. It's not, if you'd rather understand the whole thing before taking further steps. wink

Also, you've always got to start somewhere. My little general life advice adding some application premises to yours. smile

Re: SD Card can't be mounted (MSI Laptop)

Where did that message appear/occur?
When the card is inserted, what lines are added to the end of the journal?
With the card inserted, what is the output of lsblk    ?
