[SOLVED]can not install R studio

Hi guyz !

How are we supposed to install RStudio  in Arch Linux for some of us who are into data science .

i get the below problem with yaourt

Total time: 1 minute 31 seconds

Hi - would you mind posting the full output of makepkg? That part only tells us that there is an error, but the error message is missing.

Also, please use code tags to make it more readable.

@flying-sheep: Sorry for the late reply. My qmake path problem seems to come from having both qt4 and qt5-base installed, with qmake-qt4 being linked to qmake.

This is pretty odd. I can't see why GIT_DISCOVERY_ACROSS_FILESYSTEM would be necessary (unless the fact that you're building in a tmpfs somehow breaks other assumptions that then lead to this error).

Have you tried building the package in another location, e.g. inside your home?

It's hard not to see it as disrespectful to ask for help and then ignore all the advice you are given.

I always use makepkg directly for this package because it takes quite a bit of RAM to compile, and if you compile it in a tmpfs (yaourt defaults to /tmp/yaourt-*) you're eating into more RAM. Try the following and then post all the output in code blocks if it doesn't work:

mkdir ~/aur
cd ~/aur
wget https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/snapshot/rstudio-desktop.tar.gz
tar xfvz rstudio-desktop.tar.gz
cd rstudio-desktop
makepkg -si

This grabs the PKGBUILD with wget directly from the aur, extracts the archive, and makes the package with makepkg in your home directory as ayekat recommended.

If you're running out of RAM, try using the rstudio-desktop-bin package instead. The backend is the same R so its not as though you'll see much (or any) performance difference from compiling the package.

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/rstudio-desktop.git

Thanks guys,
The comp I was installing in is pretty old ,single processor and small ram but I managed with

yaourt -S rstudio-desktop-bin

(following  Woodape' advice),

after installing the

pacman -S base-devel

and

yaourt -S r r-devel

I really appreciate your help, you point me to the right direction.
