Need to replug USB devices after a suspend

Hi, using a laptop Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd gen.

I think the default behaviour when closing the lid is the suspend to RAM function (when opening the laptop again the system is ready in a second so I think this is right).

Anyway my USB tablet (Huion 420P) needs to be reinserted into the usb-port to work again.

What could be happening here?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Need to replug USB devices after a suspend

These kinds of problems are common and usually very difficult to debug. The kernel initializes hardware when it found them. But when waking up from sleep in must sometimes reinitialize some of the hardware and apparently it fails to do so. The situation has generally improved but some problems remain. I think the precise situation depends on the model of the laptop and the firmware. Personally, I think it os only a minor inconvenience.

Unfortunately I could not find details on that hardware (or anything but this post and a twitch comment ... ;-) but if you're "lucky", it'll suffice to unload and reload the kernel module for the device (check dmesg after plugging it for the first time - in doubt "usbhid")
