Hello, I've been struggling to get Arch working for a couple of days now, I have finally managed to get a desktop envirovment (xfce4) now I am tackling my network issues. I have an ethernet cable connected to the laptop which worked fine on Linux mint but now the computer doesn't even show me an ethernet adapter as far as I can tell and dhcpcd did nothing.
I installed all the packages via my broken wifi (was broken on LM too) which turns itself off every couple of minutes and even to get that working in terminal I had to do "echo "blacklist hp_wmi" > /etc/modprobe.d/hp.conf" and "rfkill unblock all" (or I would get an error when I did ip link set up) every time to set it up, plus I had to do "ip link set wlp2s0 up" then "ip link set wlp2s0 down" then "wifi-menu" for it to work, which was a pain.
Any idea why my ethernet doesn't seem to work?

Did this happened after kernel upgrade or from the beginning?

Hello.
Is there a BIOS option to enable or disable ethernet (or something as Onboard LAN)?
It was working with Linux Mint but could it has been disabled????
Because not all of us are native English speakers, try no to use slang or abbreviations, thank you.

It happened from the start, as soon as I booted it from the USB and it's still happening

Checked for that, wireless LAN is enabled and there is nothing else.

Just an idea: maybe you could try installing linux-lts (the lts kernel). I've met another Arch user (whose main OS is not Arch btw.) on the LM forum (we were both using LM) and he also had a Realtek card but he said that the newest non-lts kernel broke the laptop's wireless connection. There must be a way to download it on another computer and install it. I guess this is worth a try.
My OS runs on the lts kernel. I had a little trouble with the original.

That fixed EVERYTHING, thanks a lot been going crazy all week.

Maybe something like this ("in case of strange errors try installing linux-lts") could be inserted into the "Installation guide" on ArchWiki.

@Klanecek and @Lemongrass the linux-lts package is rebased every year so if no one fixes the issue upstream after the next linux-lts rebase it will broken in both linux and linux-lts.
Edit: reworked sentence to be clearer.

@loqs: thanks for the info, nice to know. I had only a minor issue. I hope a kernel developer also meets this problem and fixes it.

What type of system is this? It appear to be a SoC based system.
With the lts kernel, check the installed modules using lsmod
Then, with the stock kernel, do the same thing.
Do the module lists match? Or is there something missing in stock kernel that exists in the lts kernel?
