I upgraded my system today, and when I try to browse website with konqueror it gives me only this message back:
konqueror: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_http'.
Any suggestions?

Propabaly you still have old openssl-0.9.7, and KDE 3.5.3 is compiled using 0.9.8.

I have this
$ pacman -Q openssl
openssl 0.9.8b-1
Should it work?

Today I upgraded KDE to 3.5.3 but server wasn't completly sync, so there was no new openssl package. I had same problem as you, so I checked if kio_http.so file is in my system, and it was. Next thing I checked was ldd kio_http.so, and I noticed that libcrypto.so.0.9.8 was missing (this is a file from openssl package). I have manualy downloaded new openssl package, and after upgrading it, kio_http error was fixed.
So it should work in your system too. Maybe you should restart KDE or do "ldconfig /opt/kde/lib/kde3"
