Some nice older looking icon sets?

Hey, I'm tired of all the modern fancy or minimalistic icon sets, can you guys share some like this one? I'd love to know what's that one called, couldn't find anything about it though.

Re: Some nice older looking icon sets?

That looks like the old Gnome icon theme (Gnome 2 era, maybe even 1.4).

Look up gperfection2, and maybe Retrofukation?

Re: Some nice older looking icon sets?

Gperfection2 is exactly what I was looking for but it seems like it's 90% broken by now. Using retrofukation for now, thanks, if anyone knows about some similar sets please let me know.

Re: Some nice older looking icon sets?

In case you're still looking for something like this, I found an updated version of the old Gnome 2 icon theme (pre Gnome 2.16) that still works here.

It has some issues, for example I had to replace "Inherits=gnome" with "Inherits=Adwaita" in index.theme so it pulls missing icons from Adwaita, and mimetypes do not seem to work, but overall it's usable.

I was actually working on doing exactly what the author on the link you posted did. The mimetypes could probably be fixed by simply renaming the icons. The download 404s, though. If you still have it, maybe you could upload it to mediafire or something? That would be awesome

Re: Some nice older looking icon sets?

Wierd, the download works in Firefox, but in Qupzilla for example it gives a 404 like you said.

Anyways, here is the original version from DeviantArt and here is the modified version I'm using at the moment.

In the modified version I tried to fix some of the issues, like the mimetypes for example, although I didn't add all of them, only the ones Adwaita has.

Edit: This is what it looks like in some of the applications I'm using

Actually the whole button is an image, here are some versions of it.

Wow, those are nice too. Note that for it to work properly you have to have gnome-icon-theme installed, as mentioned in the comments on the AUR page.

Other old ones that are quite nice are Bluecurve and maybe Tango-Original (the archived link still works).

Re: Some nice older looking icon sets?

Thanks, a lot, Rakksor! The only issue I noticed that was still left with the modified version you posted was that drag icons (folders opening when you drag another folder over them) were missing. So I fixed that. Man, this icon set is just awesome. Don't really get how newer icons don't come even close, at least in my opinion. Here's how it looks on my box. Also, thanks everyone else for the replies, those are some pretty solid icons as well.

I'd like to, but after using it for a while I think it still needs some more work put into. Anyone knows where I can get the full original unmodified icon set just like it was back in the day? I believe it has quite a few icons that are missing here.

edit: I think I've got most of it down, my life is really hectic but I'll probably have it in aur sometime soon.
