Hello,
Is help needed for Arch Linux to upgrade the OpenMPI package to the current stable version (2.1) ?
Arch is still at bugfix releases of version 1.10, while 2.0 and 2.1 stable version have been out for a while (Jul 2016 for 2.0, MArch 2017 for 2.1).
I've been flagging the package as out of date (with an explanatory text) at each release since at least September 2016, but it seems new packages are always based on the 1.10 branch. Perhaps too much automation ?
I generated a build for 2.1 (built, but have not tested install yet), and this requires minor changes in the PKGBUILD. I can test it (or post my build) if it helps things move forward.
I understand the package maintainers may lack time to upgrade or test themselves, so I'm just trying to see how I can help Arch can back up to date for this package.
thanks,
Yvan

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=225875 if that fails as it appears to have in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=225902 then I have no other suggestions.

Hello,
Not sure I see how this relates to the topic. In this case there is no specific kernel dependency, and the package features/scope did not change, so the related threads don't help.
I'm flagging the version in testing as obsolete, as it seems the packager has changed, so hopefully might have a bit more time to handle the update.

The first link addresses how to contact a package maintainer the second addresses that if that fails there appear to be no other options.

Openmpi has been upgraded to 2.1.1. Thank you for your patience.
Could you please verify that the new version works as expected?
