[SOLVED] Swapfile & systemd-swap

I just want  to make sure I am following the instructions on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Swap#Swap_file correctly, but from my understanding, I can setup a swap file by creating a file with fallocate, changing the file permissions to 600, then adding it's location to my fstab. However, I'm not familiar with the need of the systemd.swap service. Is it needed and how does it work? I read some of the manual page but I didn't come out of it feeling good about what it does exactly.

Swap units may either be configured via unit files, or via /etc/fstab
       (see fstab(5) for details). Swaps listed in /etc/fstab will be
       converted into native units dynamically at boot and when the
       configuration of the system manager is reloaded. See systemd-fstab-
       generator(8) for details about the conversion.

       If a swap device or file is configured in both /etc/fstab and a unit
       file, the configuration in the latter takes precedence.

Does that not cover?

Is it needed and how does it work?
