packages zshdb and adbfs caused my system to crash.

Today I installed 'zshdb' and 'adbfs' on my recently upgraded arch linux system. The shell started to lag a few minutes after the installation. The lag was followed by errors which said something like '_main_completion_functio not found'. Then the shell completely stalled and started giving me some 'I/O' errors. When I forced a shutdown and rebooted, the grub gave me an error saying kernel image not found. Note that I'd set zsh as the login shell of root account as well. I chrooted from a live cd, removed zshdb and adbfs, reinstalled linux, zsh, and changed the default shell of root back to bash, and the system became bootable again. There is surely something wrong with one of these two packages. I suspect it to be zshdb. Has anybody else encountered a similar problem?

Re: packages zshdb and adbfs caused my system to crash.

You have changed too many things when trying to fix the problem so you can't be sure zshdb or adbfs are the real culprits. To me i/o errors (without more details) sound more like a hardware problem than a software problem, specially if you run zshdb or adbfs as a regular user. Having set root's shell to zsh also doesn't sound like it would cause problems.

I'm confused... You did "pacman -S zshdb adbfs", pacman finished, and then the issues started to occur?

Also, which "adbfs" package did you install?

No I'm not a regular user, I installed these packages just today. And I'm really clueless about the cause of the problem. I suspect these packages because my system was running just fine before I installed them, and is running fine now, after I've removed them.
+drcouselis I installed the 'adbfs-rootless' package from aur.

Re: packages zshdb and adbfs caused my system to crash.

I don't get it... The PKGBUILD files for "zshdb" and "adbfs-rootless-git" don't DO anything, except copy some files to your drive.

Are you logged in as "root"? Is there still an issue if you install just one package as a non-root user?

Make sure your backups are current! wink

Re: packages zshdb and adbfs caused my system to crash.

Using your system logged in as root is a very bad idea™.

I've used adbfs-rootless-git before and I didn't see any problems (haven't tried latest git tip though) and from the description zshdb should run just fine as a regular user and should not cause any trouble.
