wireless card not working

Hi,

I installed Arch in a new machine and I can't get a working wireless card. There seems to be a problem with loading the firmware.

The output of dmesg | grep firmware is

[ 12.051800] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-3168-28.ucode failed with error -2
[ 12.067441] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: loaded firmware version 27.455470.0 op_mode iwlmvm

while dmesg | grep iwlwifi

[ 12.051800] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-3168-28.ucode failed with error -2
[ 12.066730] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: capa flags index 3 larger than supported by driver
[ 12.067441] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: loaded firmware version 27.455470.0 op_mode iwlmvm
[ 12.344300] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 3168, REV=0x220

[ 12.347113] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: L1 Enabled - LTR Enabled
[ 13.095166] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0 wlp59s0: renamed from wlan0
[ 180.275195] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: L1 Enabled - LTR Enabled

[ 180.313252] iwlwifi 0000:3b:00.0: L1 Enabled - LTR Enabled

Any idea about what should I do?

edit: In case it's useful I'm running a full uptodate Arch and the machine is this one: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c05411544

Re: wireless card not working

That problem with loading the firmware is normal, often the driver contains code to load newer firmware than what is publicly available. As you see directly after the failed load, it will simply load an older firmware that is available. What else have you tried that you come to this conclusion? How are you intending to set up your wireless? Have you read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … figuration ?
