Recently I was changing my laptops OS, so I moved all my important file to a USB. However, when trying to access I get the following error: Error when getting information for file '/run/media/username/USB_with_my_stuff/some_direcotry': Input/output error.
So it seems to my that one directory is ruining the fun for everyone. I really need access to this drive, what might I do to fix this problem?

Is this on the old system or the new system?
What is the file format of that drive?
Edit: Have you tried it as root?

This is on the USB flashdrive and I'm trying to access from an Arch desktop, and no I will try running it as root now, I'm just not too versed in using the command line for USB, but will do my best. I think it's ext4. Thanks for the reply.
*UPDATE:
Marked as solve, it was a simple case of over-reliance on GUI to get me through the day. Using the cp -r /path/to/usb command worked flawlessly.
