Install 0.7.2: "kernel panic - not syncing" [solve

My Problem
I'm trying to install Arch using a now-several-week-old 0.7.2 CD, which boots fine on 2 desktops and a Dell Latitude of similar spec to my IBM thinkpad 600e.  The problem is that the "live disk" bit does not boot, it gets as far as creating a ramdisk, then a few errors crop up, and it ends with "Kernel Panic - Not Syncing"
(If anyone can tell me an easy way of transfering the whole error list from my screen to this forum I will - else I could type it out)

My Theory
Googling about I found some referances to install problems relating to isolinux - somthing about Thinkpad 600's being ok with zlinux but not bzlinux, so if the installer uses the secont type it might ot work? ... over my head really but it's an idea.

My solutions
Neither the normal "arch" kernel or the "no scsi" worked, so I tried booting with bootE linux live floppy, but I couldn't figure out how to set off the Arch installer (/mnt/cdrom/arch/setup could not be found - I think that's where it's supposed to be)

I *could* try the floppy disk ftp install, but I don't really fancy trying to set up my Netgear WG511 wireless card using those disks, and the archdoc.htm suggest it could be problematic

More about my system
It's a IBM thinkpad 600e 2645-5bu laptop.
Processor:  400Mhz Pentium (II or III?)
RAM:         32 onboard + 32+64 =128MB total
HDD:         Second hand Toshiba 20GB (4 partitions)
BIOS:        Inet35W - almost but not quite the newest
CD Drive:  Toshiba CDDVD
Known issues: sound card improperly detected; ACPI can occasionally cause problems? apparently not with Arch

It's had 0.7 Wombat installed on it before, but I had help installing from someone far more competent than me - I don't remember having any such problems then.
Knoppix 4.0.2 also works fine

so...
If anyone could help me with either the boot problem directly, or can think of a workaround to start the installer I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Jack

if 0.7 worked for you. Use those cds and use the rolling release system to update to the latest software. i still use my 0.7.1
