Alright so i'm trying out kde plasma and so far i really like it except for the fact that i've come across a shitload of bugs. From what i hear plasma isn't usually this bad. I'll list some of my current issues:
The biggest one thats driving me absolutely insane is my window title bars are freaking huge. The buttons are huge and the text is tiny as hell. And i've done some searches but the options are just not in my system setting to change the size. I've tried making the font smaller (hence the tiny fonts i mentioned) and that doesnt work and i've read several places to go to system settings > application style > window decorations but there just is no setting to change the button size all i can do is swap out what buttons are on the bar and change the window theme. Neither of which make my title bars normal size. The strangest part is when i first installed kde and messed with some settings I swear this setting was there and I CHANGED IT and made them smaller then. The only thing i've done in that regard is change my main theme in SS > Workspace them > Look and Feel And i only changed it for a second to show a friend how customizable kde was... Now the options have just dissapeared.
And thats not the only thing thats dissapeared on me in system settings. When i first set up plasma i also enabled some of the effects in SS > Workspace behavior > Desktop effects specifically i enabled the translucent windows when they are being moved and i also turned on the little wiggle effect when moving windows. Neither of those 2 effects are in the list anymore after a restart i guess or possibly after i changed the theme above?? not exactly sure when it happened maybe you guys can tell me. But i can't reactivate them and they aren't working anymore....
I've also had issues with cpu usage. It might just be kde itself but i never imagined at idle just staring at my blank desktop i would use more resources than i would actively browsing the web and watching videos in windows on this machine??? It can jump to 25 or 30 percent usage and it's just my login manager and plasma that are using that when i check with htop... This just seems strange to me but it could totally be normal i suppose. I just don't see what could be doing it.
That's all i can think of right now. If the answer is i should run kde on a different distro than thats fine also i usually just run a stand alone window manager but i figured i would check up what the latest and greates de's are up to these days, i didn't think i would be running into stuff like this... But any help on any of these issues would super appreciated. Even if i could just change the settings in a config file i'd be happy.. lol
