Hi
I have a "UltraWide" monitor LG 25UM58 connected through HDMI with a card AMD/ATI Turks XT [Radeon HD 6670/7670]. I am use the opensource ATI driver. But I must use in 1920x1080 resolution because when use the native 2560x1080 the image is very wrong:
CVT outputs:

a) why do you need to add the mode explicitly?
What does your xorg log and "xrandr -q" look like w/o the explicit modeline?
b) try to disable hdmi audio:
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --auto --set audio off
This can also be achieved passing "amdgpu.audio=0" resp. "radeon.audio=0" to the kernel

connected through HDMI with a card AMD/ATI Turks XT [Radeon HD 6670/7670]
Wikipedia indicates 21:9 screens require HDMI 2 or later, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Version_2.0
AMD lists HDM 1.4a / 1920x1200 as max in the specs for your card, http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graph … 6000/6670#
Maybe DisplayPort 1.2 does support this resolution / ratio , try connecting over DisplayPort.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

Wow! after run "xrandr --output HDMI-0 --auto --set audio off" the resolution 2560x1980 is set automatically and looking good. But... the text is pixelated.
I put DPI at 120, 150 and 200 but is look it same.
Offline
Pic or it didn't happen (and I lack imagination of what "pixelated" could be here) - do you still have the expicit modeline around?
Also Lone_Wolf is right here: you're driving this borderline out-of-spec (actually it's out of spec) and DP or DVI should not cause such issues.

If I not set a custom xorg configuration file, resolution 2560x1080 is not detected.

Hmm, maybe, but in Windows the 2560x1080 resolution is working without problems.
Also Lone_Wolf is right here: you're driving this borderline out-of-spec (actually it's out of spec) and DP or DVI should not cause such issues.
I will try get a HDMI to DVI adapter...
For now the resolution is good but text is pixelated. I set DPI to 111 but not changes. I come back to 1920x1080. :-(

Do you mind showing an image of the "pixelated" text? (Ideally a screenshot and no photo, higher resolution than in the OP - please you an image paste service for this, imgur or the like)
Offline
A screenshot is not show the pixelated text:

Only is appreciable with photos:

Looks like subpixel hinting gone wrong - check your hinting, subpixel and lcd_filter configuration.

The problem is not only the text, look this image with Dia and Rdesktop:
Is unusable.

Then the bandwidth is still too high.
=> Try the reduced blanking modeline.
Also some amazon review says the monitor does 50Hz (over HDMI), so try such modelines as well.
Finally, are you dead sure about windows driving the output at this resolution? Because the "CE video identifiers (VICs) - timing/formats supported" you posted don't quite look so?
Offline
I will try get a HDMI to DVI adapter...
If those monitors only have hdmi inputs (the specs suggest that) , get a DVI or DP to hdmi adapter instead.
Incase your card handles the 21:9 resolution better, it will only work if you use the DP / DVI outputs of the card.

I reduced blanking modeline configuring Xorg with the CVT data:
cvt -r 2560 1080 60
# 2560x1080 59.98 Hz (CVT) hsync: 66.64 kHz; pclk: 181.25 MHz
Modeline "2560x1080R" 181.25 2560 2608 2640 2720 1080 1083 1093 1111 +hsync -vsync
But the result is the same.
I reduced the refresh rate to 50Hz:
cvt 2560 1080 50
# 2560x1080 49.95 Hz (CVT) hsync: 55.65 kHz; pclk: 188.75 MHz
Modeline "2560x1080_50.00" 188.75 2560 2712 2976 3392 1080 1083 1093 1114 -hsync +vsync
But the result is the same.
I am very sure that Windows resolution is 2560x1080:

Today I will buy this cable:
https://www.spdigital.cl/products/view/40438?ref=rr
And I will comment you the results.
Offline
I did not have luck, Xorg detects automatically the 2560x1080 resolution with this cable, I not need to customize xorg.conf. But... The image still is bad.
Do I will have to buy a new graphic card? I was thinking that Nvidia cards have better support for Linux, maybe that is the solution.

Maybe not, we may have overlooked that you're running a hybrid graphics system.
Those tend to default to using the integrated (weakest) card.

Try 30Hz or 24Hz (w/o the adapter) and check whether the monitor accepts that frequency - just to see whether this is actually a bandwidth problem.
Just to be very sure: it's oc the same HW (Tv + Cable) on windows, yesno? (Please say no ;-)

Finally, I did buy a Nvidia card and the problem is resolved immediately. The open source ATI driver was the problem.

Nope, trying to drive a card outside of spec was the problem.
Good luck with your nvidia card.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

To find a middle ground: at least the (windows) catalyst driver seems to be capable of tweaking this - though I would have bet it simply turns off the audio (notably since it "almost" worked with deactivated audio)
In case you want to revive the card (somehow) on HDMI, I just looked at https://www.spdigital.cl/products/view/40438?ref=rr and it clearly states to only support 1080p (so would fail) - you'll need sth. like a DP -> HDMI 2.0 converter. Sorry that I didn't look before :-\

Haha, this may be the most depressing [Solved] I've ever seen.
