Pointer jumps (touchpad) since Kernel 4.11, problem not in 4.10

Hello everyone,

since Kernel 4.11 I noticed strange jumps of my cursor when moving it.
The cursor only jumps when I move it; when it jumps, it is moving in the direction it was already going.

I have no clue how to begin fixing or debugging this. I have Kernel 4.10 and 4.12 installed now and I can reproduce the issue by booting in the one or the other.

libinput-debug-events shows me that the jumps happen and I'm not hallucinating.
My device is listed as SYNA3105:00 06CB:7EA5 (the notebook is a Xiaomi Mi Air 12)

I read about some multiplexing issue with the i8042 controller and added "i8042.nomux=1" to the Kernel params, but that didn't help.

This issue must be connected to a change in the Kernel from 4.10 to 4.11.
To be precise, my 4.10 version is 4.10.17-2, the issue started the first time I installed 4.11

It's a minor problem, but it's driving me insane.
Currently working on 4.10, but I'd love to use the feature like TCG Opal or the power saving mode for NVMe that came with 4.11

I will happily provide more input or info if you tell me what you need.

Thanks for any help!

Cheers!

I noticed the same problem. It seems to work fine with xf86-input-synaptics though, so I suggest to switch the input driver for now.
