How to define distinct KDE profiles (sets of settings) for same user?

Hi,

I'm trying to define two distinct KDE profiles for different uses of my linux notebook:

1) when using the notebook standalone with internal display and keyboard

2) when using the notebook in "clamshell mode", i.e.: with external monitor and keyboard

What I search to achieve is the following: define two distinct sets of KDE settings (most importantly: keyboard layout and screen resolution/scaling factor, which differ considerably between uses 1. and 2.) that are identified by names and between which it would be easy to switch.

It would be nice if I could give an encompassing name to all the settings I made with the "KDE settings" program.

My current setup is clumsy as it makes it necessary to manually change all these settings as soon as I switch from using the machine  as a standalone notebook to a computer with external keyboard and display, an vice versa.

Is there a way in KDE to define and store complete and distinct desktop profiles? What part of the KDE infrastructure would be suitable for this?

Thanks for your help!
