Dell Inspiron 1501
The wireless driver is in the AUR.
Be sure to install and use cpufrequtils (or you'll overheat).
Everything else is fairly obvious and easy.

COMPAQ Presario F754LA
Running as a cheetah
Specs:
# AMD Sempron @ 2.0GHz
# 1 GB RAM (64MB used in VRAM)
# Atheros AR5007 Wi-Fi
# nForce Mobo
# GeForce 6100 integrated graphics
# HDA Audio card (don't remember the make/model )
# 160GB Hard Disk
Everything worked out-of the box, except for the suspend/hibernate commands 'cause I haven't the time to install/configure it
Boot-up in 5 seconds from POST to X (yay!)
Using XFCE, DOSBox and Gnome-mplayer, nothing more needed I use it as a university/entertainment system, mainly for seeing movies in my bed
Oh! almost forgot. When new, the battery lasted about 3 to 3:30 hours against the poor 2 hour on MS, but when MS finally wore out the battery, it runs about 30 minutes against the 5 minutes on MS (running videos, of course)

Runs brilliantly. I've had no issues that I can recall (except that the media touchpad doesn't work).

Post of the year for me!
Following your link I finally managed to fix the ath5k wireless slow navigation problem on my girlfriend's laptop, running Xubuntu 10.04.
Thank you so much!
I'm now forced to post my beloved laptops here!

Cannot adjust the brightness, otherwise everything runs fine. Wireless works using the broadcom-wl driver from AUR.
[EDIT] Found a workaround solution for adjusting brightness. Wrote up an entry for the wiki.

Apple Macbook 5,1
A bunch of things do need a few tweaks, as long as you don't use a desktop environment, but they get fixed easily. Some drivers (wifi, screen backlight) come from AUR, but that should almost be expected ;-)

Samsung Q25, old but light, slim and cheap
Since about 2.6.32 everything except the Cardreader runs nice, even S2R and S2D. MS Cards are not working at all, working on SD Cards creates high loads and is slow. Never testet the Winmodem. Brightness Keys work, but the normaly displayed pie graph is scrambled. Docking Station works perfectly. Since some Month, the Intel Video Driver seems to be broken, so on dual head strange artifacty occure.
I changed the original Wifi for a ipw2200 and the hdd for a CF Disk, and with the latest Kernel the power consumption dropped to about 7-8W on low load and brightness.

Running Arch on HP Mini-Note 2133 and everything works smoothly ...wifi, bluetooth, audio, webcam, video et. al.
Was surprised that videos play much more smoothly on Arch than on openSUSE & Ubuntu.

I actually run an Arch Linux server on a very old HP laptop, which was already a piece of crap when it was bought
uname -p and /proc/cpuinfo say it has an AMD Athlon(tm) XP Processor 2800+ processor, but BIOS says 1600+ mhz
Specs:
AMD 1,6ghz CPU
nvidia nforce 2 chipset (audio/video/etc.)
256mb RAM
40gb HDD
external HDD's: 1tb + 2x 500gb
Running:
no X-server
lighttpd: phpbb, wordpress, and mediawiki. (w/ sqlite)
proftpd
deluged: I connect to the daemon from my main laptop, no webui.
samba: I share my music and videos, so I can play them on my xbox, which is running XBMC.
screen+irssi: obviously, I have to be on irc 24/7 8)
supybot: ... and I absolutely have to have a bot with me on there.
And suprise suprise: It all runs 100% perfect with about 80 mb RAM usage on Arch Current uptime is 23 days, and I believe I installed Arch on it 23 days ago
for the record, my previous server was an older, more powerfull desktop PC, which ran the same things, but with Ubuntu server 8.04, and memory usage was around 200 mb Also, I believe my Arch server is way more secure because of hosts.allow & hosts.deny, which I knew nothing about back then (I only allow ssh and samba connections from my local network, nothing except http+ftp from the outside)
