The glare is terrible, it's almost unusable outdoors. It also has no good viewing angle; at least some part of the screen is discolored no matter what angle you view it from. It runs fairly cool though.

When you use the term "docking system", it sounds like you're talking about one of their Android tablets with a removable keyboard. The keyboard on this thing is not removable, but instead you can rotate the screen 180 degrees and shut it, transforming it into a tablet. It's a little wobbly, but from what I've read it's a lot better than most netbook-tablet hybrids.

If you want a transformable, I think you'd be better off going with one that has a removable keyboard. It makes a good netbook, but as a tablet it's too bulky. When I use the touch screen, I usually do it without transforming it, as it's just a hassle. The one big advantage it has over something like an Android tablet is the fact that the touch screen responds to a stylus, making it much better for drawing, which is the reason I got it in the first place.

Problems
Cannot switch between Radeon and Intel graphics. Failed to install catalyst driver. So, I have to use intel graphics under Linux. The discrete ATI card is wasted now! :-(

I've an EFI system here with no MBR.

Although the keyboard isn't working in Arch...

I do not recommend it. I spent a week just to get the bloody thing to BOOT. Now I can't log in because the keyboard doesn't work. But its my only laptop so:

Everything works fine... sound, hardware 3D acceleration, wireless, etc, but it's not a very powerful machine. I'm sure it's discontinued by now. It's already four years old.
I had to manually install the broadcom firmware to get wireless and b43 to work.

Only things that don't work are the security buttons near the power button. There are outdated attempts at drivers for them, but they destroy things. Stay away. Write your own personal touchscreen utility program like I did.

This is my first install of Arch, probably i'm making some mistakes configuring this laptop but so far most things work how they should.
I've tried most of sony related modules available in AUR, none of them are needed/supported for this particular model.
Things that i couldn't get going:
1. Fn keys - this laptop has unusual way of dealing with Fn keys, defferent from other vaio's, no hope there.
2. nVidia drivers don't detect AC/BAT plug/unplug events and in turn run gpu at full throttle at all times. To combat this i added an option to xorg.conf:

Option         "RegistryDwords" "PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x2233; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x3; PowerMizerDefault=0x3"

This locks gpu at it's lowest speed. The laptop is so old i don't really need games on it. Rather have it cool and power-saving.
3. wicd is dropping wireless connection every hour or so, i can't yet find any errors for that in logs. Might be a problem with Thompson wireless router, i've come across a number of devices it has problems with.

Overall, Arch is a good distro for this laptop.It has enough power to run light DE comfortably and has no major hardware issues. I settled on openbox+lxde, very smooth experience.

At work so I don't have the specs for said laptops but I have successfully installed arch on the following.

Toshiba Portege 3500
Dell Inspiron 900m
Dell Latitude D620
Asus K53YX (or something like that, not sure about the model name)
Dell Inspiron 5100
Sylvania WM8505 (It has an ARM processor, I had to use Raspberry Pi's version of arch.)

I have also installed Puppy Linux on an Austin Edge CD, the specs for this one I know offhand:
Pentium rated at 133mhz
8 megs of ram
1 gig HD

I uh, don't think I'll be installing arch on that one

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W520 and everything works perfectly. Battery is a bit of a problem though even with a 9 cells.

EDIT: After some hard scrutinizing battery life is better than it has ever been. Around ~12 hours now.

before bios update was very unstable, after " 06QB" it runs smooth and almoust everithing is working.
Exceptions : discrette VGA ( gt 520 mx ) does not work with bumblebee 3.0.3 but worked before. For brightness keys to work i use "acpi_backlight=vendor" boot option. Camera is not tested.

hardware:

I have arch running flawlessly with the latest updates on my Acer Aspire 4820TG TimelineX. The only workaround I had to do was disable switchable graphics, but as I play WoW, I usually have the decrite on anyways. Still get 4-6 Hour battery life.

Running on 2 netbook and just setup an arch system for a friend on his laptop with some eyecandy and DE customized to his needs.

ASUS 1015pn
CPU: 1.5ghz atom n550 dual core(multithreaded)
RAM:2gb DDR3 installed
HDD:500gb WD scorpio black 7200rpm(installed it myself)
Nvidia ION2 graphics(works flawlessly with compiz and XFCE4 once configured right, stays at around 50-60fps for most effects)

(nothing has run better on this netbook thanks to the forums and wikis it flies amazingly fast for it's specs)

CPU: 1.66ghz atom n450(single core multithreaded)
RAM:2gb DDR2 installed
HDD: 250gb seagate 5400rpm(factory)

(note this netbook is about as OS friendly as anything i've came across. it even has full support for Hackintosh although i don't see any reason to use it. Neither is dual-booting. 100% Arch on both and loving it. Edit: the 1018p boots now at around 25-30 seconds after running it with e4rat!)

Same goes for my friends Asus X53U XR1 with the Amd c-50 1 ghz dual core it runs surpisingly better than i expected even with compiz effects. The radeon HD gpu helps a lot more than i thought it would too...

Dell Latitude XT with a self-added SSD

Dualboot Truecrypt for Windows 7 / Data partition and dm-crypt for Arch x64

The WIFI card is not initially supported but b43-fwcutter did the trick.
The touchscreen (pen and finger) works out of the box but I rarely use it because I'm too lazy to look for proper software to use gestures and stuff and fine calibration.
Also, the Touchpad doesn't seem to work with the synaptics driver so I don't have scrolling etc.
Battery lifetime seems slightly better than windows (running XFCE4) but I haven't done any serious benchmarks.
And I can't hibernate (out of the box) but I don't use that anyway so I didn't try figuring out how to get it working.
The Hotkeys below the screen seem improperly mapped but do work, so I'm fine with that.
