Does anyone here possess arcane knowledge of the X cursor system?
I'm working on a cursor theme and I'd like to make sure I've got a full set. The traditional X11 cursors are well in hand (I managed to get a list of all 77, I think), but KDE and Firefox at least seem to require some cursors with special names. Can anyone help me track down a list of these? The ComixCursors theme has a script that makes some symlinks for these, but I have no way of knowing whether it's complete.
I'd also like to know why all this is necessary, if anyone knows. Why does Firefox need a cursor named 08e8e1c95fe2fc01f976f1e063a24ccd anyway? What's wrong with left_ptr_watch?

I'm currently using the redglass theme but there are some missing cursors. Here's the list of symlink I make. I got it from a theme (I don't remember which one):
08e8e1c95fe2fc01f976f1e063a24ccd -> left_ptr_watch
14fef782d02440884392942c11205230 -> sb_h_double_arrow
2870a09082c103050810ffdffffe0204 -> sb_v_double_arrow
cross_reverse -> cross
crosshair -> cross
draft_large -> right_ptr
draft_small -> right_ptr
e29285e634086352946a0e7090d73106 -> hand2
hand -> hand2
hand1 -> hand2
left_ptr_32 -> left_ptr
plus -> cross
tcross -> cross
top_left_arrow -> left_ptr
xterm_32 -> xterm
Let us know when your theme will be completed.

I'm not too familiar with cursors, but I currently use "neutral" and it seems to be packed. Here is a list:

I hope it helps. Here is a link to the cursor theme so you can download it if it will help - http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show. … tent=28310

Thanks guys; it looks like I've got a fairly complete list here. At least I won't be missing any common ones. Right now I've got 45 cursors done: all the common ones from the traditional set and pointer with watch for Firefox. It looks like I'll need to make six KDE specific cursors and two for Gnome before it's release ready. Then I can complete the thirty or so less common ones.
X11 really has a lot of cursors.
