0.7 install to present

there have been references to this but nothing definitive...

i'm coming back to arch but have to use a 0.7-base-iso version to install arch.

the first thing i do is type "pacman -Syu"

but there have been a lot of changes since 0.7 and many things still seem to need to be changed (despite the idea of a 'rolling release')- for example, after pacman -Syu, none of the packages are installed because there's a conflict with grub.

Please, i'd be most grateful if someone could just point me to the correct wiki pages, or just the particular changes, for each and all of the things i need to do to go clean from 0.7 to present times! (eg. udev, initrd, xorg)

thanks-o!'

(ps. i've already tried this once and failed, so i've come to the forum for help!) thanks.

Re: 0.7 install to present

Well, the best would be to do a 0.7.2 (Gimmick) install.
But for whatever reason its not possible u mentioned :?

after pacman -Syu, none of the packages are installed because there's a conflict with grub.

errm,.... usually u get an error output right? wink post it big_smile

just point me to the correct wiki pages

this might be useful: http://www.archlinux.org/docs/en/guide/ … guide.html

Re: 0.7 install to present

yep, thought the same! roll  wink

would make things much easier, cleaner and installation is very quick if u have a connection like DSL or the like.

i.e. an installation on this pc with netinstall takes (all put together) roughly about an hour, and system is ready! try it! wink

Re: 0.7 install to present

You could try the -f flag to force the upgrade. It's a 50/50 shot.
