Soundblaster X-fi S/PDIF jack no audio
My laptop has an internal pci Soundblaster card and I'm trying to use the dual S/PDIF / headphone jack but no sound is coming out.
Both Alsa and PulseAudio detect the channel and PulseAudio allows me to select the IEC958 output channel.
I've done a lot of research, but nothing has helped simply because I don't know enough about the inner workings of Alsa.
Can someone who's more experienced with Alsa help me get sound to work?

If you've done a lot of research you should be posting the results of that research...
Start with the following
aplay -lL
amixer -c$index of the correct card from aplay -l
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks

All of these commands were run while playing audio to the iec958 S/PDIF channel. Alsa seems to recognize the channel but still no sound comes out.
