My laptop has an internal pci Soundblaster card and I'm trying to use the dual S/PDIF / headphone jack but no sound is coming out.
Both Alsa and PulseAudio detect the channel and PulseAudio allows me to select the IEC958 output channel.
I've done a lot of research, but nothing has helped simply because I don't know enough about the inner workings of Alsa.
Can someone who's more experienced with Alsa help me get sound to work?

Start with the following

All of these commands were run while playing audio to the iec958 S/PDIF channel. Alsa seems to recognize the channel but still no sound comes out.
